Alles Ret is photographer Jens Honoré’s reaction to the growing number of homeless people in Denmark, and to the reality that a large part of the homeless do not have access to a daily hot meal – which should be a human right. This led him to contact JunkFood to create Alles Ret, a project that brings a dignified and moving focus to a group of homeless people who can now receive a free meal each day. In this book, people experiencing homelessness reflect on the importance of food in their lives through a series of photographs and interviews, presented in both written and audio form. JunkFood provides hundreds of free, nutritious meals every day. A daily hot meal helps people experiencing homelessness build health and stability in an otherwise stressful daily life.

Alles Ret (Right to Food) is an editorial project built on restraint, rhythm, and respect. The design frames deeply personal testimonies from people experiencing homelessness, allowing each voice to exist with clarity and dignity. The layout avoids visual dramatization; instead, it relies on a quiet, consistent typographic system that gives the voices space to unfold at their own pace.

The personal stories are transcribed from recorded interviews, and therefore manage to bring out an authentic atmosphere in a fragile but powerful portrayal.

Image sequencing, pacing, and typographic repetition create a calm structure that supports the raw photographic material and transcribed interviews without competing for attention. The result is a publication where form serves content, and where design functions as a quiet but firm framework for empathy, storytelling, and trust.

This project was developed while I was employed at Studio C, Copenhagen.
